From Red Moon to Angels

el-abanico-renate-van-nijen-oleo-77x95cm-with-watermarkNow I do know that this website is aimed to give you information about cultural events that take place in La Herradura and Almuñécar, but as the initiator of this website you might be curious about who I am. Well, there is a great opportunity to get to know me during my solo exhibition in Nerja from 1 to 15 December in the Sala Municipal in C/ Almirante Ferrándiz, 14.

I will be there every day from 11.30 to 14.00 and from 17.00 to 21.00 and you are very welcome to come and view my art. I will show an overview of my work with a variety of paintings in acrylics and oils – works made in Holland, Italy and Spain- some ceramic statues and my books, amongst which ‘Reflections from La Herradura’.

charity-aa-chamuels-feminine-counterpart-watermark-50x70cmIt is interesting to see how the different cultures and different periods in my life have influenced my work. Those who are familiar with my work also know that most of my paintings have a red moon in them, symbolic for the Goddess Isis, which stands for female intuition, creativity and more. I paint very intuitively but the red moon now seems to disappear from my work and angels are appearing. If you are curious then please feel free to come and visit my exhibition.

Hoping to meet you there!

Renate

P.s. Should you’ve decided to come to Nerja for a day trip you could also go and visit Frigiliana and hop into the exhibition of Martín Morales Manzana in the Casa de La Cultura. Loli, as her friends know her is also from La Herradura and is part of a joint exhibition of the Arte Sur group.
