Acupuncture improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites–commonly referred to as acupuncture points, or acupoints. The most common method used to stimulate acupoints is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin.
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine healing technique (of over 3000 years old) which can, relieve pain and also improve digestion, sleep and emotional well-being problems.
Acupuncture can promote the natural self-healing qualities and improve bodily functions by stimulating specific points (linked to the meridians) on the body. The most common method used to stimulate these points is the insertion of fine, sterile needle into the skin. The effect can be further enhanced through pressure, electrical stimulation or heat.
Yin and Yang, in Traditional Chinese Medicine describes the body and the universe, as two opposing forces. According to this philosophy, a body is healthy when these forces are in balance. The energy that flows along different meridians in the body is called “qi”. Qi is a constant flow of which keeps the yin and yang of the body in balance. When this energy gets blocked this can lead to pain or illness. Acupuncture can release this clocked energy and help the body regain its natural healing capacity.
If you are interested in trying acupuncture you can visit Gonzalo García Maciá in his Centro de Acupuntura – Los Cinco Elementos. Gonzalo, originally from Spain has his practice in La Herradura in Calle Principe 16, bajo. Gonzalo has always been attracted to alternative medicine and healthy ways of living but 26 years ago he started studying acupuncture and other Chinese health practicing for more than 15 years in Sweden and other countries and over five years in La Herradura.
Gonzalo is very knowledgeable, not only about acupuncture but also about other Chinese healing methods like. During an acupuncture treatment pressure, heat, or electrical stimulation may further enhance the effects but Gonzalo also uses other Chinese acupoint stimulation techniques, amongst which: manual massage, moxi bustion (also called heat therapy is a traditional Chinese healing technique which consists of burning dried mugwort (moxa) on particular points on the body) and cupping (a therapy in which glass cups are put along the meridians of the body, creating a suction which can stimulate the flow of energy).
On your first visit Gonzalo will ask you questions, feel your pulse and check your tongue, which will give him a lot of information about your general state of health. He can also advice you on specific food specific food products that might be beneficial for your body. As far as nutrition is concerned he is a great believer in selecting products
