Acupuncture, a healing journey

Closeup shop GonzaloAcupuncture improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites–commonly referred to as acupuncture points, or acupoints. The most common method used to stimulate acupoints is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin.

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine healing technique (of over 3000 years old) which can, relieve pain and also improve digestion, sleep and emotional well-being problems.

Acupuncture can promote the natural self-healing qualities and improve bodily functions by stimulating specific points (linked to the meridians) on the body. The most common method used to stimulate these points is the insertion of fine, sterile needle into the skin. The effect can be further enhanced through pressure, electrical stimulation or heat.

yin_yang_clip_art_20177Yin and Yang, in Traditional Chinese Medicine describes the body and the universe, as two opposing forces. According to this philosophy, a body is healthy when these forces are in balance. The energy that flows along different meridians in the body is called “qi”. Qi is a constant flow of which keeps the yin and yang of the body in balance. When this energy gets blocked this can lead to pain or illness. Acupuncture can release this clocked energy and help the body regain its natural healing capacity.
